YOu can see the stream flow here...http://www.arroyoseco.org/streamflow.htm This is way up the canyon, so count on it being higher in our part of town...
I would recommend staying out of the channel whenever we are having rain. The gates will be closed for any rain event, or when releasing water from the dam...the channel can even be dangerous during low flow times...this happened right by the Rec Center: http://www.arroyoseco.org/newsfull.php?artic=349
As a kid we used to walk our horses across the wash during the rain in lesser surges then this. This was before the days of TV flood rescue coverage. I shudder to think of what could have happened.

I went by yesterday (Sunday) and it was the highest I'd ever seen it -- at least 6 feet deep!
Do you know anyplace online that tracks how much water is in the Arroyo Seco and when it's safe to walk there? I want to walk my dog there again.
