Locals Only

Many people don't know we have a ski resort right under our noses out here in NorthEast Los Angeles. 45 min car ride on Highway 2 and you can be flying down black diamond hills. It has this cool local feel and is fairly cheap as far as ski resorts go.

As you go up the 2, you get an AMAZING Los Angeles view all the way to Catalina and beyond.

Continue up the 2 and you will soon start to see the snow on the ground. Don't drive too fast and miss the small parking lot and lift just off the side of the road!

You know it is a local LA spot when the slopes map is tagged.

Empty and beautiful.

NO lines, NO annoying too-cool-for-school workers and EMPTY runs. Don't think I will ever go back to Big Bear.

With more snow on the way this weekend, it might be a good time to check it out! Call 818-790-2002 to hear the updated daily snow report.

Thanks for the info.

When it first snowed in December, I was trying to remember what the name of this resort was. Now I know! And with the storms heading this way over the weekend, it looks like it could be an epic year for Mt. Waterman.

How is this NELA when it's got several cities and a lot of miles of national forest between it and L.A.? I'm a big fan of Mt. Waterman, but there's no way it counts as North East Los Angeles. It's not even La Canada Flintridge, which is closer.

I was just making a point that it is super close to our area. Not that it is around the corner from La Estrella.
