Up in the Trees
Love the Greek Theatre in LA. Love the secret spot up in the trees above the Greek. Love that my old hippie roommates showed me the semi-secret spot. Love the great sound up in the trees. Love it sharing your 6/12/case of beers that you brought. Love it especially when a great band such as Broken Social Scene rip it up as they did last night. The only downside is the crappy view, the loud drunks during a good show and stumbling in the dark down the dirty hill.
But it is so worth it.
Find the dirt path up the hill. Find the happy fools swaying to the tunes. And you will find the best place in Los Angeles to hear a free concert.

It is a great secret that has existed for decades. The problem is, technically, the park is open until 10pm, so you could get in some trouble if the rangers decided to do a "sweep" of that area after 10pm. It's worth the risk, some say.
Just found your blog. As a Mt. Washington resident, I'm always thrilled to see blogs focusing on local issues.
