LA

Man what's up? I know top teams cruise into the playoffs but this is ridiculous.

And Manny's a kook. Enough of his big ego and no hustle.

Blackened

Two story fire the other day. Down on Griffin. Something with the electric wires sparking and overloading transformers. But really just look how close this structure is to the wires. This fire was only a matter of time.

Multiple fire engines. Utility trucks. And a parking officer to make all of us use the back road to our hill. The firemen knocked it down quick style as always.

Only downfall, other than a scarred house for the owner, was that the lower third of Montecito Heights went powerless into the night. Hundred degree weather. Forget not being able to turn on a light, you had no A/C. A lot of camping in the backyard to cool off happened I bet. Was very eerie seeing entire streets pitch black.

Swing Low

Stumbled upon this random swing at the beginning of this summer. Deep in Deb's Park. Under a huge low hanging tree. Been enjoying the nice breeze and great views from the swing ever since.

Struggled to post this picture because I didn't want the word to get out. Soon it will crowded with kids hogging the swing. Long lines waiting your turn. Families having picnics around it. Ha. But that would be selfish. Especially since I am not the person who spent the time to make it. Go find it and enjoy!

Anatomy

"Let's take the 110 to downtown" became a little longer than expected on this day last week. I understood what one little stalled car can do to your trip. Especially on a skinny highway.

Flinstone Rooftop

Awhile back when the big boring boxes were sitting idle, I went up on the roof for a look. Good views from there, I imagine that is where most of the tenants hang out out of necessity. Too bad they made slits for windows in those boxes or else you could see the great views from the inside.

Hey developers, when building a house on the hill, at least put in some big windows to enjoy the view. Well, I guess you figured that out by now when they sat vacant for more than a year. Great job as always!

Summer's Ending

Every year around the month of July, the sun sets between the Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood sign. During this time, I try to make the trek out to flat top for the sunset as many times as I can. Unfortunately because of work and vacation, I only made it a couple of times this year.

I love to imagine the old Montecito Heights locals, 5,000 years ago, using the sun setting over the mountains as the basis for their calendar. The Fall and Spring, the sun sets over Elysian Park and the Santa Monica mountains. The Winter, it sets over Dodger Stadium. Months and moods were set by this I am sure of it.
