Wray Art

Ave 64

LA River

East Chinatown

LA Pointbreak

Awesome local painter that goes by the name William Wray. He's been all around the world but I love his local paintings the most. I believe he mostly does plein air paintings, many times hopping over fences and sneaking around alleys. That is what sets him apart as he is out in the elements. Plus he can just flat out paint and capture the feeling of the moment he is witnessing. Beauty wallhangers.

Go check ol' Wray out at williamwray.blogspot.com

No More Boxes

Incredible. Some dude, who I've heard is a son of an oldtime Montecito Heightian, is trying to squeeze in 5 houses on a small plot of land at the intersection of Latrobe/Sinova/Elderbank. His old man must be second guessing himself as to why he
left this land to his greedy and selfish son.

Just so happens that this plot of land is mostly a steep hill, sits right at the edge of Deb's Park, would need a new street built at a blind intersection, and would wrap around behind two existing houses. Of course all 5 houses would be ugly square boxes with little or no back and front yards.

Oooooh, maybe the developer would even make them that great tan color!!

Oooooh, maybe these houses will sit vacant and not sell like the other 2 developments of box houses.

One could only hope.

If you live up here, you probably got emails and a flyer on this recently. Please take the time and send out the email and/or mail your thoughts in. Every little response counts. There is no need to squeeze in 5 houses to a small area just to make a little profit. Not every bit of land needs to be built upon. Let the hawks and coyotes and rabbits and the other locals live in peace.

There is a meeting at the MHIA tomorrow night (Wednesday) and Mr. "Local" Developer will be there showing off how and why these houses will be so great for our little town. 7pm.

Let's all go out there and yell a big "GO HOME KOOK" to him tomorrow!

When and Why

Seen on a post last year. Apparently someone got fed up with the Montecito Drive speeders and wrong doers.

Fear of a Black Hat

Recent picture of the wonderful and local Southwest Museum going under for some repairs.

Heard of this awesome new site. Whether you agree or disagree it seems like it will be good to get the word out and inform the people. They say, "The purpose of the blog is to reach out to museum, accounting, legal, education professionals, students, and concerned individuals across the nation to inform, discuss, and analyze the implications of an ongoing effort of the former Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage to move the entire Southwest Museum from its nationally significant landmark campus into an expanded single Autry Museum building in Griffith Park. The proposal has been severely condemned by historians, archaeologists, historic preservationists, civil rights leaders, and community activists. Over 7,000 people have signed a petition demanding that the Autry not be granted City of Los Angeles permission to use City park land to carry out this plan."

Seen in the early dawn along Montecito Dr. Have a breakfast burrito while relaxing on the chair. When it starts to rumble, hop over to right and sit on the toilet. Shit or sit, it's all up to you. You can have it all.
