Beautiful. Timelapsed. LA. Love the clouds.

Even Montecito Heights gets a nod at 0:46.

Cardboat Found

Ha! Found the cardboard boat again in the reeds the other day. She made it through all of the winds and rain and fishermen and dogs up there. Some parts had fallen off or got too soggy and ripped. But I salvaged most of it and put her back in to sail one last time. Brings a tear to my eye....

Purples

Love this time of year when the trees turn. All you can see is purple blotches on our hills.

It's strange how the graffiti changes color also.

Violet over violence.

Winter Solstice

In honor of summer solstice yesterday, which gets the sun setting just to the right of the Hollywood Sign...

Here is the winter solstice from back in late December. The view of the sunset from our hill gets as far as just left of Dodger Stadium.

Amazing how the sun travels that far throughout the year.

Stalemate

Earlier this year, an artist planted in each dirt tower: black sage, California bush sunflower, deerweed, sticky monkeyflower, blue-eyed grass, California buttercup, and California poppy. It was supposed to all grow and flourish.

Guess this little art installation didn't really work out as everything looked dry and dead. This is how it looked back in May so I need to get back down there again and check it out.

From the artist's old website that is not online anymore..."Located at the Audubon Center at Debs Park, Monument to the Towers (Downtown/ Debs Park) is created from dirt, branches and plants found in the park can be seen as changing monuments, an abstract representation of downtown LA (which is visible from this site), or as a stand-ins for children (who often play in this area of the park)."

Better luck next time. Glad someone is at least trying their hand at natural art.
